The Road to Today
The history of the Center for Transportation Safety, from its beginning in 2000 through its return to independent ownership.
Center for Transportation Safety began in 2000 as a corporate driver training service based in Denver, Colorado. The company provided CDL training to the oil and gas service industry, often working directly at customer sites so instruction reflected the real environments drivers encountered.
In 2009, CTS was purchased by PHH Vehicle Management Services for its light-duty vehicle training services. PHH became Element Fleet Management Services in 2014, and CTS was later sold to Driving Dynamics, Inc. in 2017.
In November 2021, the company was purchased by James Paterson, one of the original CTS employees. James brought more than 30 years of commercial vehicle experience and more than 20 years with CTS back to the organization.
Today, CTS continues building on that history while expanding opportunities for individuals pursuing professional driver training and organizations seeking practical transportation safety solutions.
